Decommissioning
A worn out boiler should be scrapped.
Inspection of the convection section
The boiler is equipped with automatic soot re-
moval, but the convection section should still
be checked 2 – 3 times a year. Open the con-
vection section service hatch and lift the hatch
to one side. NOTE! The hatch is heavy.
If the tubes' surfaces appear sooty, they must
be swept manually. Lift the spirals out of the
convection tubes.
Sweeping the convection section
Use a tube brush with a straight shaft. Go
through each convection tube. Push the brush
all the way down to the ash space, as it will
then be easier to pull it back

Reinstall the spi-
rals and close the convection section service
hatch.
Check the pipes in the convection section and
remove fly ash from the surfaces. Feel to see
whether the spirals can move in the convec-
tion tubes. If the convection tubes appear to be
clean, manual sweeping is not needed.
