III. Operation of Power PDA Cradle
Note: In order to use your PDA for satellite navigation, you must have a GPS
receiver and have GPS map software loaded onto your PDA.
After cradle is mounted in the desired position in your vehicle:
1. Plug cradle power cord into the vehicle cigarette lighter socket or
12V power supply.
2. Connect the Charging/Data cord for your PDA -- one end into the
USB PDA slot on the cradle and the other end into the serial port
of your PDA.
3. Connect the audio cord from the 3.5mm speaker jack on the top
of the cradle to the 3.5mm headphone jack on your PDA. If the
headphone jack on our PDA is 2.5mm you will need a special
audio adapter.
4. For satellite navigation: Make sure you have a GPS receiver, such
as Options A, B or C below:
Option A: Connect a mouse-type serial GPS receiver to the RJ12
jack on the top of the cradle (RJ12-to-PS2 adapter
cables are available if needed). This jack will power
your mouse-type receiver and also transfer data
to the PDA.
Option B: Use a Bluetooth GPS Receiver. No cable connection is
necessary. However, for your convenience, Bluetooth
GPS receivers can be charged from the Bluetooth
charging jack on the side of the cradle.
Option C: If your PDA has its own built-in GPS receiver, then no
additional connections are needed.
Turn on your PDA and access your GPS map software program.
5.
Important Safety Notice:
Most GPS software has built-in voice
navigation to allow you to keep your eyes on the road while
driving. If you need to study the map on your PDA, stop the car
and pull into the side of the road first.
IV. Trouble Shooting
