2.5 Operation
2.5.1 Switching ON DIS unit
When power is supplied to the DIS unit, the procedure for communication with the
center and the unit initialization begins, during which the data with initial settings are
transferred to it. The initialization procedure usually lasts about 30 seconds and is
accompanied by a special diagnostic mode of flashing all the LEDs illumination. After its
successful completion, the DIS unit goes into normal operation mode.
After switching on, it is recommended to conduct a trial communication session. If the
volume of the speakers is insufficient, adjust the volume in the following order: disconnect
the DIS from the power supply, remove the cover, switch the DIP switch "SW3.1" to the ON
position, thus the speaker volume control function will turn on without programming this
function from the central, in this case, the volume is reduced by pressing the "7" button
sequentially, the increase is by pressing the "8" button (the numbering of the DIS buttons
goes from bottom to top and from left to right).
If necessary, adjust the sensitivity of the main microphone using the adjustment knob
(Figure 2, item 10).
Note
- Sensitivity adjustment using the adjustment knob should be performed in simplex
communication mode.
2.5.2 Operation modes
DIS unit enables to realize of different communication modes, depending on the
capabilities and configuration of the communication system.
The main mode of communication is loud-speaker simplex communication, which is
implemented in all communication systems. In this mode, the outgoing connection with the
desired subscriber is established by pressing the programmed target communication key,
immediately after a voice message can be transmitted through the DIS microphone on the
flexible crown. Similarly, a group call and a loud alert are made, at which the signal is
broadcast simultaneously to all participants in the group, including the alarm amplifiers.
After the end of the outgoing connection, the unit returns to the initial ready-to-talk mode.
The answer of the subscriber or voice calls from other subscribers will be immediately
broadcast to the DIS speaker.
As part of the DCN and IPN communication system, when communicating with duplex
subscriber devices, for example, telephones, a half-duplex communication mode can be
used. In this case, communication between the DIS unit and the telephone is carried out in
both directions without disconnecting the connection, until the “clear” key on the DIS unit is
pressed or the handset is dropped on the telephone. During the connection, the DIS unit
subscriber controls the direction of voice transmission by pressing the key to transfer voice
