What’s in the box?
Observe ESD-safe
measures
• Use either a properly grounded ESD wrist
strap or make sure that you are working
in an ESD-safe environment.
• Connect your ESD wrist strap to the ESD
connector at the front or the rear of the
system.
2
Checking installation
environment
• Leave enough space around the cabinet.
Prevent air blocking of fans and provide
controlled ambient air at shelf air-inlet to
ensure sufficient airflow and appropriate
heat exchange in the shelf.
• Consider heat dissipation when you
choose slots to install blades. If the shelf is
not fully configured, install the blades in
scattered slots. Unoccupied slots must be
protected with appropriate blank filler
blades to prevent air leaks.

Install RTM-ATCA-7180
4
The following procedure describes the
installation of RTM-ATCA-7180. It assumes
that your system is powered on. If your sys-
tem is powered off, you can disregard the
blue LED and thus skip the respective step.
In this case it is a purely mechanical installa-
tion.
1. Wear the ESD-preventive wrist strap.
2. Take RTM-ATCA-7180 out of the anti-
static package.
3. Fully open the upper and lower ejector
handles of the RTM.
4. Align the upper and lower sides of RTM-
ATCA-7180 with the guide rails (the
edges of the slot). Slide RTM-ATCA-7180
along the guide rails until the positioning
pins of RTM-ATCA-7180 are inserted in
the positioning holes in the shelf.
5. Use a screwdriver to fasten the captive
screws clockwise to fix RTM-ATCA-7180.
The LEDS of the RTM are off.
6. Connect the respective cables.
7. Make sure that the handles are in the
open position.
