Programming the CPLD can be accomplished in either of two ways: through the empty P8
header on the component side of the board, or through the gold fingers of the PCIe
connector.This method can also be used to update the CPLD. Currently there is no method to
program the CPLD through either linux or other software.
3.3.2
CPLD Operation
Power cycle and boot
The power is divided into two sections: The Gold fingers and the ATX rear power.
Gold finger power cycle up
The CPLD derives its power from the GF 3.3V, therefore without this power the CPLD will not
function.
The CPLD will not turn on the i350 1.8 V and 1.0 V power and Intel 82599EN 1.2 V if the +12 V
gold finger is below +11 V.
After the +12 V GF comes above +11V, it will turn on the i350 +1.8 V and 1.0 V power with the
+1.8 V coming up first, then the +1.0 V coming up later and Intel 82599EN 1.2 V, the 3.3 V
should come up first, then the 1.2 V. If the 12 V GF drops below +8 V, then the +1.8 V and +1.0
V and all the power control of the board will be turned off.
Power cycle Control
Running the pci7205 command from the linux console on the server will allow you to complete
power control of each MCP. The user can turn off power to one or more MCP processors.
Running the pci7205 command with the –cp option will power cycle the individual MCP, or all
the MCPs on the board.
Note: Currently, only supports one MCP power down at a time.

MCPx Block
The MCPx is a Multi-chip Package processor complex that consists of an Intel i5-5350U High
Performance Mobile Processor with hyperthreading and turbo capability. The MCP package
also contains a Peripheral Control Hub (PCH). There are two MCP blocks on each PCIE-7205
card.
