12. ARP/LOOP FEATURES
12.1. The Looper
The Looper allows you to set up a loop inside a pattern, with a start point and an end point
that are defined by where your fingers have been placed on the pads.
♪
: The Looper is only available in Step mode.
Here's how to set up a loop with the Looper feature.
• Enter Step mode by pressing the Record button. It will turn red to indicate that
the Sequencer is in Step mode.
• Press the Arp/Loop On button, as if you were going to enable the Arpeggiator.
The On button should be lit.
• Press Play. You'll hear the Sequencer start playing.
• Press a few pads, preferably several notes apart. This defines the upper and
lower limits of the loop.
At this point the Looper will create a loop between the leftmost and the rightmost pads you
pressed. The Loop duration depends on the number of steps between the left and right pads
as well as the resolution. Therefore it also depends on which Track (Pitch, Gate, Velo, or
Pressure) is currently selected, since one of those may be set to a different length than the
Pitch track.
All four tracks will start looping at the same moment, and they will return to the beginning
of the loop at the same moment.
If the Looper is running and one or more tracks are different lengths, the output may change
when the end of the defined loop is reached.
For example, if a track reaches its end before the end of the loop, that track will return to
the beginning of the loop and continue playing to its end, then return to the loop start point
again, etc.
Mathematically speaking, the results could be very interesting!
Here's one example of what the Looper could do:
In the example above, the following conditions exists:
• The Sequencer has been started
• The playback direction setting is Alt (Alternate), which is acheived with Shift +
pad 3
• The Looper has been activated
• The D pad and the A# pad are being held down.
In this example, all four tracks will play their patterns forward between step 3 and step 11
(the D pad and the A# pad)
