AFTER THE MISSION
A.
RECEIVE DATA FROM THE UAV
CAMCORDER – SONY CX730E, CX410VE & PJ780VE
As there is only limited access to the SD card on the camera (by loosen the tripod screw), it is
recommended to use the USB cable of the camera to connect the camera to a computer to transfer
the data. The UAV must be switched on to power up the camera.
CAMERAS – SONY NEX-5N & NEX-7 AND PANASONIC LUMIX LX5, LX7, TZ22 & TZ31
The SD card can easily be removed at the bottom of the camera. Store the images of every flight in a
separate folder.
BLACK BOX DATA
There is a BLACK BOX installed in the AscTec Falcon 8. It records all flight data of each flight every
100 ms. including camera log file and flight path and so on. Some data is redundant, because e. g.
the trigger signal is sent to the camera for more than 100 ms and therefore part of two data sets.
Without this BLACK BOX you cannot start the vehicle. The flight data is stored to a SD card and may
be exported as KML file (.kml) or CSV file (csv.) for instance.
Take the SD card from the front of the central unit and copy all log file folders from the SD card to a
computer. For every time you switch on the UAV, there is a log file folder with a consecutive number,
starting at “001…”, ending at “…500”. The folder with the highest number is the latest one. After 500
flights the numeration starts over at “…001”.
The BLACK BOX and its recorded and saved data can not be manipulated.
Just in case you experience any problems with your UAV contact us immediately.
By sending us the latest 10 log file folders as a zip file to team@asctec.de, we are
able to check the system and detect an existing malfunction.
B.
ASCTEC PHOTO TAGGER SOFTWARE
The ASCTEC PHOTO TAGGER is optional software that makes georeferencing
much easier. It uses the black box data of the UAV to georeference images or
generate flight paths for post processing of missions. When opening the software,
you see the user interface on the left.
To select a certain log file, always select the folder that contains the
folders with the consecutive numbers.
The ASCTEC PHOTO TAGGER
delivers an executable file that can be saved on your computer.
System requirements:
Windows XP or higher, an installed FTDI driver, USB
2.0 device.
Note: Mac users are able to run the software in Windows using
Parallels
for
instance.
There are three different options to post process the image data:
