Using the Track Speeds
The 6710D is equipped with 2 track speeds: low and
high. These speeds can be selected in either high or low
idles. This allows for four available track speed options,
listed from slowest to fastest:
•
Engine low idle, track slow speed
•
Engine high idle, track slow speed
•
Engine low idle, track high speed
•
Engine high idle, track high speed
During typical operations and for loading the machine
for transport, move the machine with the engine at low
idle, track slow speed. The machine maneuvers best at
low speed.
High speed is preferred for moving the machine long
distances with few or no turns. For higher speed, raise
the engine rpm and switch to high track speed.
1
WARNING
Crash hazard.
The machine maneuvers better and safer in low
speed than at high speed.
• Always set track travel speed to Low for load-
ing or unloading onto a trailer or lowboy, and
for moving in tight places.
Use extra caution to allow for delay in
transmission.
Track Speed Shift on a Slope
Track speed automatically shifts to low if machine
angle is greater than 15 degrees:
•
An incline symbol popup appears on the home page
and track page if the machine angle is greater than
15 degrees.
•
There is a 3 second delay before the speed shifts to
low.
To prevent accidental or intentional operation of travel
at speeds that are unsafe or unsuitable for the terrain, the
track warning horns:
•
Beep faster when in fast speed
•
Beep slower when in slow speed
Towing When Stuck
1
WARNING
Flying object hazard.
An overloaded tow line can break and rebound
with great force. Use only undamaged tow lines
capable of towing the 6710D.
Use tow lines specifically designed for towing and
capable of safely towing the 6710D, which weighs
108,500 lbs (49 214 kg).
Attach the tow lines to the eyes on the track carbody
(Figure 90 and Figure 91) or to the eyes on the machine
frame (Figure 92).
