Disassembling the Film Coater
4.5.1 Running a Characterization
Prior to disassembling the film coater, it is recommended that you perform a material characterization.
Characterizations record the film patterns produced by the film coater. When the film coater is properly
adjusted and calibrated, it will produce acceptable film patterns. By comparing characterization sheets
made before and after disassembly and repair, you can be sure that your film coater is properly
assembled and adjusted.
If the film coater operates properly, run a characterization before disassembling it. Save it for future
reference. Refer to the
Easy Coat User Guide
for characterization procedures.
4.5.2 Preparing for Disassembly
To prepare for disassembly:
1. Run the purge program. See
WARNING!
System or material pressurized. Relieve pressure. Failure to do so may result in
personal injury or equipment damage.
2. Pull up on the relief valve on the fluid reservoir to relieve system pressure before opening the
fluid reservoir. Refer to the appropriate coating system manual for procedures.
3. Drain coating from the fluid system and flush with the recommended solvent. Refer to the
appropriate coating system manual for procedures. See
4. Shut down your coating system before removing the film coater from the robot. Refer to the
appropriate coating system manual for procedures.
5. Disconnect all air and fluid lines from the film coater. Disconnect the wiring from the solenoid
valve.
6. If the film coater micro-adjustment cap is adjusted to the correct setting, make a note of the
setting for future reference.
