4.6.2 Installing the Bushing and Extension
To install the bushing and extension:
1. Place the Teflon washer in the lower bore of the lower-body module. Use the ring and seal
insertion tool supplied with the service kit to seat the washer.
2. Slide the bronze bushing (with the long shoulder first) onto the extension until the bushing
contacts the extension shoulder.
3. Apply a thin coat of Parker O-ring lubricant or an equivalent lubricant to the O-ring and to the
area where the bronze bushing contacts the extension.
4. Install the O-ring over the top of the extension. With the bronze bushing held against the
extension shoulder, seat the O-ring on top of the bushing.
5. Place the O-ring over the lower-body module pilot. Use hand pressure to keep the bushing
secure against the shoulder of the extension. Carefully slide the bushing, O-ring and
extension into the lower-body module. Do not trap the O-ring between the bushing and the
extension shoulder.
6. Place the tapped hole in the bronze bushing so the hole lines up with the nameplate on the
lower-body module.
7. Inspect the bronze bushing after installing it into the lower-body module. The flange should
be flush and square against the lower-body module.
8. Mate the upper-body module with the lower-body module and carefully insert the needle
through the lower-body module and into the extension. All air and fluid passage ports should
be lined up on the backside of the film coater.
9. Place the film coater assembly (with fluid and air ports face down) on a flat surface. While
applying hand pressure to the upper- and lower-body modules and bronze bushing, install
and tighten the four screws to hold the bronze bushing in place.
