However, to establish a grounding connection, you will need:
•
an M8 fork or ring spanner to establish a grounding connection,
•
grounding wire and lug.
3.1.3.
Preventing Electrostatic Discharge damage
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, which occurs when electronic cards or
components are improperly handled, can result in complete or intermittent system
failures. To prevent damage to the DEP
/
T6 main board or to the DEP
/
PCI module,
use an antistatic strap whenever opening the housing of the appliance and never touch
the boards or connector pins.
3.1.4.
Site requirements
To ensure normal operation and avoid unnecessary maintenance, plan your site
configuration and prepare your site
before
installation. After installation, make sure
the site maintains an ambient temperature of 0°C through 30°C, and keep the area
around the chassis as free from dust as is practical.
Temperature is a critical issue with respect to the DEP
/
T6. Indeed, temperature
sensors on the system monitor the internal air temperature of both the main board and
the DEP
/
PCI modules. Should the temperature of the former climb too high, the
system is capable of reducing the processor clock speed or even stopping it.
If the temperature of the DEP security modules exceeds a certain threshold, this
triggers the temperature alarm system. This security feature is to block the system in
case untrustworthy people would try to retrieve sensible data using excessive heat.
From a general perspective, the layout of your equipment rack is essential for
successful system operation. In addition, equipment placed too close together or
chassis panels made inaccessible by inadequate equipment placement can make
system maintenance difficult.

NSTALLING THE DEVICE IN A RACK
3.2.1.
Attaching the chassis to the rack posts
The rack mount brackets are standard mounted onto the DEP
/
T6 chassis, making it
easy to mount the DEP
/
T6 into a 19" rack.
To attach the appliance to the rack posts, you need:
•
four M6 bolts or screws
•
a spanner or a screw driver
When mounted into the rack, the DEP
/
T6 is attached at the front.
To do so, put the DEP
/
T6 in place and attach the rack mount brackets to the rack by
means of the four screws.
