3.3.1.
Choosing an Ethernet port
The DEP
/
T6 has two Ethernet ports: Ethernet 1 and Ethernet 2. The latter is accessible
either from the front or from the rear.
The Ethernet ports can be used to connect the DEP
/
T6 to LAN or to establish a
connection to a PC, which can be used, for instance, to manage the DEP
/
T6 using the
NMS (Network Management System). The cables used in the former case are straight-
through 10/100 Ethernet cables, equipped with RJ-45 connectors. In the latter case, a
cross cable is to be used.

Making a serial connection
The DEP

T6 has an RS-232 jack at the rear side to establish a serial connection to a
host. Refer to the picture in the section
Hardware overview
on page 10 for the
location of the RS-232 jack.
