USING THE DEP/T6
The automatic failover mechanism is implemented in DEP Platform software
(VENUS) starting from the version 4.2.7.
This mechanism is designed to work within one DEP/T6 with it’s own pool of DEP
Crypto Modules. The main behaviour of automatic failover mechanism is that it
automatically removes failed DEP Crypto Modules from the pool without any impact
on host application.
The DEP Crypto Module will automatically be removed from the pool if:
•
The DEP Crypto Module is OFFLINE/LOCKED;
•
An ALARM/FATAL is generated in DEP Crypto Module;
•
Failed to process the request (the DEP Crypto Module is in boot state, the DEP
Crypto Module loses its application software, etc… ).
When the host application send request either to the addressed DEP Crypto
Module or to the pool of DEP Crypto Modules organized in one DEP/T6, the
failover mechanism will check the response from the appropriate DEP Crypto
Module. If the DEP Crypto Module is failed to process the request, it will
automatically be removed from the pool. The DEP/T6 will send an error
message to the host application, so that the necessary actions can be taken to
recover it.
The failover mechanism will automatically reintegrate the recovered DEP Crypto
Modules in the pool.
The main advantages of an automatic failover mechanism implemented in DEP
Platform software are that:
•
the failover mechanism management is delegated only to the DEP Platform,
•
no impact on host application if any problem occurred in DEP Crypto Module,
•
automatic reintegration of available DEP Crypto Modules in the pool.
