TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
The following checks will assist in the correction of most
p r o b l e m s w h i c h y o u m a y e n c o u n t e r w i t h y o u r s y s t e m .
Before going through the check list below, first check the
following points.
CAUSE (AND REMEDY)
• Turn VOLUME clockwise.
• The headphones are connected.
Disconnect them.
• Check the speaker connections
of the inoperative channel.
• Check the speaker cord
connection and speaker location.
• Check the speaker connection
for proper phasing.
• The TV or VCR is too close to
the stereo system. Separate the
stereo system from the TV or
VCR.
• Wire the antenna.
• Wire the antenna.
• The disc is not placed correctly.
• Dirty disc.
• The disc is inserted upside down.
• The player is in the pause mode.
• Moisture condensation.
• CD disc is dirty or scratched.
• No cassette in the cassette
holder.

SYMPTOM
GENERAL

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The lightning flash with an arrowhead
symbol, within the equilateral triangle,
is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated "dangerous
voltage" within the product's enclosure
that may be of sufficient magnitude to
constitute an electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within the
equilateral triangle is intended to alert
the user to the presence of important
operating and maintenance (servicing)
i n s t r u c t i o n s i n t h e l i t e r a t u r e
accompanying the appliance.
CLEANING CD
If the CD skips or will not play, the disc
may need to be cleaned.
Before playing, wipe the disc from the
centre out with a cleaning cloth. After play-
ing, store the disc in its case.
CLEANING THE TAPE HEADS
To maintain optimum sound quality, clean
the playback/record heads (a), erasure
head (b), pinch roller (c), and capstans
(d) regularly (every 10 hours of use). Use
a cotton swab lightly moistened with
cleaning fluid or denatured alcohol.
CLEANING THE UNIT
Do not use volatile chemicals on this unit.
Clean by lightly wiping with a soft cloth.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If an abnormal display indication or an
operating problem occurs, disconnect the
AC power cord. Wait at least 5 seconds,
then reconnect it. Before transporting the
unit, take out all the discs from CD tray.
MAINTENANCE
USING THE REMOTE CONTROL CORRECTLY
• Point the Remote Control at the REMOTE SENSOR located
on the unit.
• W h e n t h e r e i s a s t r o n g a m b i e n t l i g h t s o u r c e , t h e
performance of the infrared REMOTE SENSOR may be
degraded, causing unreliable operation.
• The recommended effective distance for remote operation
is about 4 meters (13 feet).
TO CHANGE REMOTE BATTERY
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When battery become weak, the operating distance of the
Remote Control is greatly reduced and you will need to
replace the battery.
NOTE:
If the Remote Control is not to be used for a long time,
remove the battery to avoid damage caused by battery
leakage corrosion.

To resume play, press the
PAUSE button again.
