Basic Function
Standby is the initial screen that appears when you
first turn on the handset. When your phone is in
Standby mode, you will see the handset (HS) and
base (BS) number or the handset name, if you have
one saved, and the current date and time.
When your phone is in Standby mode, you can use
the phone to make or receive calls, or to use menu
functions.
You can access the main menu in Standby mode by
pressing the M
MEEN
NU
U soft key. See “List of Menu
Functions” on page 25 for a list of the main menu
items. You can also access the calls list by pressing
the LLIISSTT soft key.
Standby Mode
1. Pick up the handset and press the
key.
Result: You hear a dial tone and CCaallll ttoo appears on the
top of the display. The icon
blinks in the
icon area.
2. Dial a telephone number.
Result: The display shows the number you entered.

Noottee: You can store up to 400 telephone numbers in
memory for automatic dialing. Refer to
‘Phonebook’ on page 19.
3. To end the call, either press the
key
or replace the handset on the charger.
You can enter the desired phone number in Standby
mode, which allows you to make corrections before
dialing. Follow these steps:
1. Enter a telephone number. Check the
number on the display.

• If you make a mistake while entering a number, press
the B
BA
ACCK
K soft key to clear the last digit and correct
the number.
• If you press and hold the B
BA
ACCK
K soft key for more than
one second, all digits you have entered clear and the
phone returns to Standby mode.

2. When the number correctly appears, press
the
key.

Noottee: If one of the last dialled numbers appear in the
display while entering a phone number, the fuzzy
dial feature is activated. For further information
refer to chapter "Fuzzy dialing" page 15.
