Connect NT and ISDN Devices to the S
0
Ports
21
An internal S
0
port offers similar features like an ISDN Point-to-
Multipoint exchange line connection. Here you can also connect up to
eight ISDN units, a maximum of four of them without an own power sup-
ply (that is the case with most of the ISDN telephones). All the devices
should be certified Euro-ISDN devices in order to guarantee a proper
functionality.
There is a western modular jack labelled „S
0
2 int.“ on the module. This
jack allows the direct connection of an ISDN device to the PBX.
The connection cable of an ISDN device may have a maximum length
of 10 m. It is equipped with a western plug that you will plug into the
ISDN wall jack (Western modular RJ-45). (If you like to remove the
western plug out of the jack, you will have to press the lever and pull at
the same time to remove it.). In case of ISDN devices with an own
power supply you have to plug them into to the 230 V mains.
The western modular plug can also be used for the connection of an
ISDN Multiplug. Use this option only in case all the ISDN devices that
are to be connected to the corresponding internal S
0
port are operating
next to the PBX and you like to do this without installing ISDN wall jacks.
The specialized dealers will offer you the ISDN Multiplug for this kind of
wiring (Auerswald accessory).
The connecting cables of the ISDN devices and the connecting cable
between the PBX and the ISDN multiple socket may have a maximum
length of 10 m. The termination resistor on the module must be acti-
vated for the corresponding S
0
port.
You have to install an internal S
0
Installation of Wall Jacks (internal S0 Port) on page 21
).
Installation of Wall Jacks (internal S
0
Port)
If the ISDN devices should not be operated next to the PBX, they must
be connected via firmly attached ISDN wall jacks. In this case the ISDN
wall jacks are attached with a cable and connected in parallel to the
internal S
0
port (internal S
0
bus).
The S
0
bus consists of up to twelve parallel connected western modular
wall jacks. But the restriction applies that a maximum of eight ISDN
devices or four ISDN units without an own power supply are attached
like on the NT (Point-to-Multipoint connection).
