CHECK
ENGINE
Figure 51
If the low oil pressure condition continues, the
Stop Engine Warning Lamp (Figure 52) will
illuminate and the alarm buzzer will activate for
30 seconds. Safely pull the truck off of the road
and away from traffic.
STOP
ENGINE
Figure 52
If the engine electronic control module has
been programmed for engine shutdown,
the engine control module (ECM) will shut
the engine down automatically after the 30
second period. If the shutdown feature is not
programmed in the ECM, use the ignition
switch to shut the engine off.
Do not attempt to drive the vehicle or run
the engine until a qualified Autocar service
representative can diagnose the problem.
Note: The Stop Engine Warning Lamp
remains on even when the oil pressure
returns to normal. The ignition key switch
must be turned off and then on again to
clear the warning mode.
WARNING
Failure to take necessary action when the
Stop Engine Warning Lamp is displayed
can result in automatic engine shutdown
and loss of power steering assist.
Vehicle crash can occur, causing serious
personal injury or death.
NOTICE
Failure to observe correct precautions
when the Stop Engine Warning Lamp
appears could result in serious damage
to the engine and/or other components.
Engine Coolant Temperature
Gauge
The engine coolant temperature gauge
(Figure 53) indicates engine coolant
temperature. For normal engine operating
temperature reading, refer to your engine
manufacturer’s operator’s manual. The
temperature range for the coolant will vary
depending on the type of engine, load,
grade, ambient air temperature and operating
conditions. If the temperature remains below
or exceeds the normal temperature range,
the cooling system should be checked for
problems by a qualified service technician.
