NOTICE
The operator should not continually
override the system, since serious
damage to the vehicle’s engine could
occur.
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
(Diesel Only)
When the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
(Figure 60) illuminates, an emissions system
error has occurred which may result in an
engine derate or engine shutdown.
Figure 60
High Exhaust System Temperature
The High Exhaust System Temperature
(HEST) Lamp (Figure 61) will illuminate when
the exhaust system is operating above normal
temperatures, or when the exhaust system is
going through active regeneration.
CAUTION
The High Exhaust System Temperature
(HEST) Lamp illuminates to indicate that
high exhaust temperatures may exist due
to active regeneration. When this lamp is
illuminated, ensure that the exhaust pipe
outlet is not directed at any surface or
material that will ignite.
Figure 61
Diesel Particulate Filter
The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Warning
Lamp (Figure 62) will illuminate when the DPF
system must undergo a regeneration cycle.
The regeneration cycle is necessary to burn
off the accumulated soot particles trapped
in the diesel particulate filter system. The
regeneration cycle is an automatic process and
should occur when the exhaust heat reaches a
sufficient temperature to begin the process.
