Figure 98
Axle Differential Lock Switch
The Axle Differential Lock eliminates one
wheel spin on slippery surfaces and improves
traction. When the lock is engaged using the
Axle Differential Lock Switch (Figure 99) the
indicator lamp on the switch will illuminate. The
Axle Differential Lock should be used only on
a slippery surface and not when driving on dry
surfaces. The Axle Differential Lock can be
disengaged while the vehicle is in motion.
NOTICE
Engage the Axle Differential Lock only
when the vehicle is stationary. Never
engage the Interaxle Differential Lock
when a wheel is spinning. Damage to the
axle may result.
For additional information, see
“Axle and
Interaxle Differential Locks”
in this manual
for information on how to properly engage and
drive with the differential locks engaged.
Figure 99
Interaxle Differential Lock Switch
The Interaxle Differential Lock is used to
provide additional traction in conditions where
all drive wheels are slipping. The Interaxle
Differential Lock, when engaged, locks the
forward-rear and the rear-rear axle together,
ensuring that both axles receive motive power.
When the lock is engaged using the Interaxle
Differential Lock Switch (Figure 100) the
indicator lamp on switch will illuminate.
Use the Interaxle Differential Lock only to move
the truck in conditions where all drive wheels
are slipping. Once suitable traction has been
achieved, disengage the Interaxle Differential
Lock. The Interaxle Differential Lock can be
disengaged while the vehicle is in motion.
