Specifying Security for Layers
You can secure the data on a layer and control access to resources by setting
an access key. The access key you specify is embedded in the layer, so that
when Autodesk Mapguide Author or Autodesk MapGuide Viewer requests
data from a resource for the layer, Autodesk MapGuide Server checks the
resource access key against the layer access key. If the keys match, Autodesk
MapGuide Server loads the layer’s data. If keys do not match, access to the
resource data is denied. If the resource does not use an access key, the access
key embedded in the layer is ignored.
You can also control whether Autodesk MapGuide Viewer API users can
obtain coordinate information from map features in your map and whether
they can access the map layer setup. Disabling API access to the coordinates
prevents developers from writing scripts that can download all of the coordi-
nates on the layer and re-use the data.
You use the Security tab of the Map Layer Properties dialog box to specify
security settings.
