Enable Section Planes
To view cross-sectional cuts of your model, you can enable up to six section planes. Only one plane is active at
a time, but it is possible to link two section planes together to form slices.
The section plane that is active is numbered in the drop-down box on the Sectioning toolbar.
To enable a section plane
1
Select the Planes mode on the Sectioning toolbar.
2
Select the plane you want to enable in the drop-down box. In this box, there will always be one more than
the number of enabled section planes in the scene, up to a maximum of 6.
3
Click the Enable/Disable
button.
Position and Use Section Planes
Once you have enabled at least one section plane, you can align it, and then use the slider to control how the
section plane moves through the model.
Each section plane remembers its settings (alignment, slider position, step size and so on).
If you have more than one section plane enabled, you can delete the currently active plane using the Delete
button. The next enabled plane will then become the active plane.
Alignment Modes
By default, section planes are aligned to the top of your model. This means using the section plane enables you
to view top-down into your model. You can use the Sectioning toolbar to select a different mode of alignment:
■
Align Top
- aligns section plane with top of model. This is the default option.
■
Align Bottom
- aligns section plane with bottom of model.
