Chapter 8: Encoding
200
Depth
Enable to set the depth, or sample size for the encoded audio track. Sample size determines the
accuracy of each sound sample of the audio track. Greater depth equals better quality at the
expense of larger file size.
Channels
Enable to set the channels the encoded audio contains. Mono is one channel audio. It requires
less space than stereo, and is frequently used for multimedia projects. Stereo has two audio
channels and requires more space than mono. It generally sounds better than mono on systems
that can reproduce it.
Speed vs. Quality (MP3)
Set the trade-off between speed and quality of the encoding.
Options
Enable, and then click Set to display options specific to the selected audio codec.
Volume
Enable to adjust the volume of the audio track. Choose Adjust to increase or decrease the
volume. Choose Normalize to set the highest peak to the specified percentage, and scale the rest
accordingly.
Low/High Pass
Enable Low pass to remove all frequencies above the specified value. This is useful for
removing high-pitched noises such as whining.
Enable High pass to remove all frequencies below the specified value. This is useful for
removing low-pitched noises such as rumbling.
Noise Removal
Enable to remove common types of audio noise from the signal. Use the menu to set the level
(Mild, Moderate, or Extreme) of noise removal. Choose Custom in the menu to set a precise
noise removal level. If you create a custom noise removal filter, the lower the setting the more
noise is removed, and the greater the risk of introducing audio artifacts.
