6.2. General principle of operation
•
When the PNG gate is in service and in stand-by mode, it has the following status:
Ö
Obstacles open (PNG/NO) or closed (PNG/NC).
Ö
Message "Insert card" displayed on the function pictogram (option) to indicate the operational status of
the gate. The message "Passage in service" exhibited on the approach (or "orientation") pictogram
(option) to indicate that the passage direction has been selected from the control desk (option).
Ö
"Red cross" pictogram and "No passage" indication (options) displayed in the unauthorised direction,
from the control desk.
•
All photocells are connected in detection: passing
any of these cells
without prior authorisation triggers the
fraud alarm, i.e.:
n
Closing of the gate in case of a "Normally Open" configuration. In a "Normally Closed" configuration,
the passage-way remains closed.
o
Illumination of the red cross on the function pictogram.
p
Activation of an audible local signal and an alarm contact after a programmable time limit (the time-out
is typically set to 15 seconds).
•
The alarm goes off automatically after a pre-determined (programmable) time-out if there is no more
interruption of the detection beam, i.e., if nothing is detected between a cell and its corresponding reflector.
In this case, the PNG automatically returns to stand-by mode.
•
All photocells are spread all along the passage-way. The risk from fraud is thus reduced further, since the
infrared photocells are occulted by a continuous smoked plexiglass strip that hides their position from users.
•
The lower photocells (C13 and C14) still considerably increase the efficiency of the PNG, since they have
the function of a contact mat. (Optional on the PNG380.)
•
The system also sets off the technical alarm in case of anomalies, e.g., triggering of the electrical protection
of a motor (magneto-thermal circuit breaker), etc.
•
These faults are visually indicated by LEDs on the fascia of the PLC, and generate a technical or fraud alarm
signal (together with a standard audible signal) transmitted to the remote control desk (option).
