1. SAFETY WARNINGS
Placing a vehicle access control obstacle exposes you to safety liabilities with respect to
persons.
For Users
The obstacle must be completely visible by the operator and the user before being
activated.
If the obstacle is raised in the course of passage (accidental operation or non -respect of
the traffic light), the damage can be important, both for the equipment and for the user
and his/her vehicle (a fortiori cyclists and pedestrians).
Pedestrian traffic must consequently be prohibited in the passage where the equipment
is to be found.
In the countries of the European Union, the EC Machines Directive requires the
displaying of the pictogram forbidding pedestrian access to the danger area, (i.e. at least
1 meter either side of the obstacle):
The user’s safety is conditional upon his/her observance of the instructions of passage
given by the traffic lights.
Automatic Systems
recommends the reinforcement of the user’s safety by the additional
use of barriers (which prevent passage for as long as the obstacle is not completely
descended) and/or of inductive detection loops (which control and/or make safe the
movements of the obstacle when vehicles are detected).
The installation of detection loops must be validated by qualified personnel who will
determine their optimal configuration (adap ted to vehicle type and passageway).
WARNING
: The risk of injury exists for people when using standard detection loops: they
can incorrectly detect trucks and (motor)bikes and close the gate on them!
For Technical Staff
Any intervention on the equipment must be performed by qualified personnel. Any work
on this product that is unauthorised or carried out by an unqualified technician will
automatically entail the annulment of the constructor's warranty.
The access key to the mechanism must only be used by staff who have been informed of
the electrical and mechanical risks that they would run in the event of negligent
manipulation. The personnel are required to lock the mechanism's access hatch after the
intervention.
Interventions must be carried out with the mobile obstacle in lower position.
Before opening the housing, turn off the power supply by means of the circuit breaker
(23, p6).
Any internal element that could be energised must be handled with care.
The equipment has be
en configured in “minimal risk” mode for its users. Any alteration of
the settings must be carried out with full knowledge of the facts by qualified personnel
and would in no way invoke any liability for
Automatic Systems.
