The aperture diaphragm can be adjusted to change the contrast.
For centering the lamp:
- Put a piece of paper on the stage. Remove one of the objectives from the nose-
piece and turn the nosepiece until the hole of the removed objective stays over the paper.
- Turn the microscope on and adjust the light intensity to have enough light.
- Focus the lamp filament on the paper. If the filament image is not centered into
the field of view, reduce the aperture of the aperture diaphragm
(4.5)
, remove the lid of
the lamp compartment
(4.8)
and adjust the lamp centering screw
(4.9)
until the filament
image is perfectly centered.
- Adjust the focusing lens lever
(4.6)
until a sharp image of the filament is obtai-
ned.
Put again the objective in the nosepiece.
Turn the focus knobs until obtaining a sharp image. If light is not uniform, re-adjust
slightly the lamp centering screw
(4.9)
and the focusing lens lever
(4.6)
to make the light
intensity be the same in all the field of view. Then put the lid compartment again
(4.8)
.
Reduce the aperture of the field diaphragm
(4.2)
. Center it by using the centering screw
(4.3); to check it is well centered, open and close the diaphragm.
The filter holder
(4.4)
is provided with green, yellow, blue and matt glass filters. Push
the filter holder until the desired filter is in the light path.
