The left frame of the ALIGN panel (“OBSERVATORY LOCATION”) allows up to eight
observation sites to be set and saved by inserting their geographical coordinates (Latitude
and Longitude).
NOTE: To operate the mount in Alt-Azimuth mode (for the mounts that allow this
operating mode) it is normally sufficient to use a smartphone
or tablet equipped
with
suitable software such as SkySafari (see the following sections 4 and 5), along with
to the control keypad. The StarGo retains the chosen operational mode in its
memory.
The Home Settings panel allows management of the starting session key position.
Sync Home Position
button, allows synchronization of the telescope to the Home
Position that has been previously chosen by selecting one of the three options on
the right of the button. N/S is the normal CWD position with the counterweight bar
down and the telescope pointing North (for Northern Hemisphere) or South (for the
Souther Hemisphere). This is the best choose for the open air sessions or for dome
observatories. E or W are the positions in which the telescope is horizontal point
East or West depending on the situations. This is the preferred choose for
observatories with a flat sliding roof
.
The “PARKING” frame allows management of the key positions that the mount will use at
the end of the operating session or resetting of the starting point if needed during the
session. The functions of the five buttons in
are:
Park
button moves the mount to the parking in the positions previously defined.
Using the Park function enables the mount to be switched off and restarted, even
after many days, without losing the sky alignment.
Set Park
button defines and store in the StarGO memory, the position in which the
telescope shall be parked.
Restore Park
button will park the mount in current position restoring the previous
Set Park mount position
Slew to Home Position
buttons brings the mount to
the Home position previously
defined with the Sync Home Position function corresponding to the starting position
to which the
Sync Home Position
has been previously set.
Realign Home Position
allows to realign the internal absolute position after the
Synch by Plate Solve or planetarium Sync
Load Model from File
enables the StarGO to accept the sky model built using the
X-Solver tool (see the
X-Solver
Appendix)
NOTE:
When the mount is parked the red LED on the StarGo board blink fast. The mount
under this status cannot be moved and no other operations are possible. It is therefore
necessary to perform an unpark to get back the mount control capability.
