3.2.3 Using Stellarium Planetary app instead of kStars
Stellarium is another Planetarium app used especially by the visualists. It is much more scenic than
CdC and is a bit more demanding in term of computer resource. However, it run smoothly on the
modern Raspberry Pi 4 mounted on the StarGO2 and therefore may be used also by the
astrophotographers. As CdC, Stellarium lacks some important telescope functions that need to be
performed with the StarGO2.
Stellarium is preinstalled in the StarGO2 Raspberry and can be reached on the same “Education”
voice of the main menu. The instructions for using the application with the mount are given in the
following paragraphs.
Telescope Setup
The procedure to connect the StarGO2 to Stellarium for Mac is the following:
1. Launch of the telescope function in the bottom icon menu (Figure 3.17).

2. The “Slew Telescope” window will pop up but showing no telescope available (only at the
first-time launch – Figure 3.18).
