Checking the compressor and regular maintenance
The condition of the compressor must be checked visually for defects. If any of the following faults is
observed on the compressor, discontinue use until the fault is corrected:
•
Leaking hydraulic system.
•
Damaged quick connector or tool.
•
Damaged reservoir pressure gauge.
•
Improperly functioning air filter.
•
Ambient temperature outside specified range.
•
Compressor cooling restricted or compressor overheats (oil temperature >100ºC).
•
Frozen condensed water in reservoir
•
Pneumatic stopping system allows the reservoir pressure to reach safety relief valve opening
pressure.
•
Safety relief valve modified, its operation has been restricted or setting changed from original.
•
Operating pressure higher than rated operating pressure.
•
Compressor noise is abnormal.
•
Compressor will not produce compressed air, faulty operation.
•
Frame reservoir bent, damaged or rusty.
The operator can perform normal checks, basic maintenance and component replacements. However, when
working with hydraulic components, qualification requirements must be met.
Qualification requirements for handling hydraulic components:
Replacing hydraulic components must be left for professional service technicians. When handling hydraulic
components, special attention to safety is needed, and installation work is allowed only for qualified persons.
The speed control valve system of the compressor does not include user serviceable components. The
manufacturer or its representative is not responsible for damages, losses or injuries resulted from incorrect
or incomplete installations. Contact your nearest Avant dealer or service point, if you have any additional
questions or require repair services.
Checking automatic stopping system and safety relief valve:
Monitor the operation of the automatic stopping system and check from the pressure gauge that the
compressor will stop when the set 8 bar pressure level is reached. Check the tightness of the air hose 4.15
regularly. See further instructions in chapters 4.2 and 4.3.
7.2.1.
Compressor air filter
Clean the air filter at least after every 40 hours of
use. Clean the surface surrounding the filter
carefully and watch out that dirt will not enter the
compressor when removing air filter.
In normal operating conditions the air filter must be
replaced after every 500 hours of use, or every
three months in frequent use. In demanding or
dusty conditions the service interval must be
shortened.
