Push-to-talk group call
The
Push-to-Talk
feature is a group or conference call made to members of a predefined group . If
one of the group members wants to contact the others, the member must press and hold the
PTT
button to open the microphone. You can configure the
Multifunction
button to serve as the
PTT
button.
Because the multifunction button is larger than the
PTT
button and located on top of the handset,
the user can locate it easily. The smaller
PTT
button is at the side of the handset. Specifically, users
who need to wear gloves find the
Multifunction
button easier to use than the
PTT
button.
Some legacy systems or PBXs require that the handset sends a predefined DTMF tone when
pressing or releasing .
To participate in the conference, the group members must first accept the invitation received as an
incoming call. If a member declines the invitation, the member can rejoin the group or conference
later. A member can also invite a group of members to participate in the conference call by calling a
PTT group.
The support for the
Multifunction
button depends on the model of the handset used.
