Example
To configure the DHCP server to send ping packets to an IP address before assigning the IP
address to a requesting client:
G450-001(DHCP 5)# ip dhcp ping packets

ip dhcp ping timeout
Use the
ip dhcp ping timeout
command to set the ping timeout. This is the time the DHCP
server waits for a reply to a sent ping packet before allocating an IP address to a DHCP client. A
lack of reply after the configured timeout indicates that the IP address is not in use and therefore
can be allocated.
