Unpacking equipment
1. Locate the packing list and the project manager’s list of equipment.
2. Remove all equipment from the boxes. Much of the equipment is boxed individually.

The J-series router
●
A 10-AWG grounding cable, an AC power cable or 14-AWG DC power cable, and cables
for the TGM550, Telephony Interface Modules (TIMs), and Physical Interface Modules
(PIMs)

CAUTION:
CAUTION:
You cannot use a 14 AWG grounding cable with the router. The grounding cable
must be 10 AWG.

An Avaya-approved USB modem
●
Two different sets of console cables and adapters:
- An RJ-45 flat rollover cable and a DB-9 adapter for console connections to the
TGM550.
- An ordinary round RJ-45 Ethernet cable and a DB-9 adapter for console connections
to the Juniper router.

CAUTION:
The two DB-9 adapters look the same, but they are
not
.
Do not
use the router
adapter
nor
the Ethernet cable to connect to the TGM550. Additionally,
do not
use the TGM550 adapter
nor
its rollover cable to connect to the router. If you use
the wrong cable or adapter, you may damage the console port. As a result, it is
strongly recommended that you use a permanent marker to label the cables and
adapters as soon as you remove them from the packaging.

The TIMs and Physical Interface Modules PIMs should already be installed in the
router chassis. If you have modules that are not already inserted, insert the
modules as shown in

3. Label the DB-9 adapter and the flat rollover cable for the TGM550 to say “TGM550”. Label
the DB-9 adapter and Ethernet cable for the router console to say “router.”
4. Verify that the equipment matches the packing list.
5. Verify that the equipment matches the list of equipment from the project manager.
