Chapter 4: Converting an S8300 from LSP to ICC
and upgrading Communication Manager from
2.0.x to 2.x
This document provides a high-level list of tasks for converting an S8300 in LSP mode to
primary controller (ICC), and upgrading Communication Manager from 2.0.x to 2.x.
Note:
Note:
An upgrade to Communication Manager 2.1 or later requires an S8300B Media
Server, and means replacing the S8300A Media Server, if it is in use.
To complete these tasks, you will need the following additional documents:
●
Installation and Upgrades for Avaya G700 Media Gateway and Avaya S8300 Media
Server, 555-234-100. To obtain this document, go to
and
navigate to Installations, Migrations, Upgrades & Configurations; then select the
appropriate document.
●
Administrator Guide for Avaya Communication Manager, 03-300509.
●
Converting between an LSP and ICC
, which is for U.S.-based systems only. Similar
documents for non-US systems should be available from the regional web sites.
For this scenario, it is possible that an S8300A, configured as an LSP and running
Communication Manager release 2.0.x, may have to be replaced by an S8300B standalone ICC
primary controller, running Communication Manager release 2.x.
The tasks include:
1. Removing the LSP from the current primary controller.
2. Updating the DHCP server alternate controller list.
3. Updating the gateway MGC list.
4. Replacing the S8300A Media Server with an S8300B Media Server, if necessary.
5. Remastering the S8300B hard drive.
6. Installing the 2.x Communication Manager software.
7. Configuring the S8300B as an ICC.
8. Administering the new ICC, its media gateway, and any gateways to be controlled by the
new ICC.
9. Moving the endpoints supported by the current primary controller to the ICC.
10. Upgrading the gateway and media module firmware.
