SELF-POWERED BURGLAR ALARM OUT-
DOOR SIREN
The self-powered burglar alarm outdoor siren is provided with a flashli-
ght. It is equipped with protection devices against opening and removal.
TECHNICAL DATA
• Polycarbonate cover and bottom
• Sloping walls to avoid the leaning of other enclosures on it, causing
sound reduction
• Antifoaming metal counter-cover the siren protection.
• Removable cover with one fixing screw on the lower side.
• Operating temperature: –20°C ÷ +55°C
• Relative humidity at 35°C: 95% max.
• Supply voltage: 10 ÷ 14 Vdc
• Absorption in standby: 4 mA at 12 Vdc
• Absorption in alarm state (with flashlight): 2,3 max. at 13,8 Vdc
• 4 sound alarms which can be selected by two jumpers connections
(tab. 1)
• Acoustic radiation pressure at 3 metres: varying according to the
selected alarm sound
(tab. 1)
• Siren control: without positive
• Flashlight control: without positive, independent of the siren control.
• 2 timing settings which can be selected by means of a jumper: 3 or 8
minutes
• Flashlight made up of a 12V-100W incandescent lamp.
• Output for lamp filament flash-off signal (open 12Vdc/50mA collector,
closing towards negative to signal alarm state)
• Sound alarm lockout during installation.
• Protection against enclosure opening with NC potential-free 1A/30V
contact. The P1 contact is connected in series to the anti-removal pro-
tection.
• Protection against removal with NC potential-free 1A/30V contact.
The P2 contact is connected in series to the anti-opening protection
• Protection against inversion of polarity through 4A fast fuse.
• Rechargeable Pb-Gel 12 V-1.8 Ah inner battery.
STANDARD REFERENCE
In conformity with to the CEI 79-2 standard, level II and with the general
output (EN50081-1) and electromagnetic immunity (EN50082-1) stan-
dards.
OPERATING DESCRIPTION
(fig.1)
The AF53900 siren is controlled by a command without positive. To be
more precise when the +12Vdc signal coming from the control panel is
not present on clamp 9, the siren emits the alarm sound. The flashlight
operating is similar; its control signal depends on clamp 10.
Selection of alarm sounds
The siren electronic card allows 4 different alarm sounds to be emitted,
which can be selected by the J1 and J2 special jumpers. Each alarm
sound has a particular modulation, frequency and emits a particular
acoustic radiation pressure. Table 1 shows the features of the 4 alarm
sounds available according to the J1 and J2 positioning.
Alarm sound lockout during installation
To prevent the siren from starting the alarm during battery connection, the
siren has been conceived with an alarm sound initial lockout which inhibits
it during installation. On connecting the battery with the siren disconnected
from the system, only the flash light will start operating, signalling the cor-
rect functioning of the siren and the fuse.
(if the fuse is burnt-out, when
the siren is connected to the battery the flashlight will not operate).
The siren is unlocked when the siren control is put in the positive positio-
nie, the non-alarm state (burglar control panel in standby). The release is
signalled by a siren tone.
Signal of lamp interrupted filament
The siren is provided with an output (clamp 11) to signal any interruption
of the flashlight filament; this output (at 12V/50mA open collector) clo-
ses towards GND in case of lamp filament failure.
Timing selection
The duration of the alarm sound in alarm state, may be set by jumper J3.
PRE-MOUNTING ON ANTI-REMOVAL CONTACT
(fig.2)
To make the anti-removal protection, it is cecessary to keep closed the
antiremoval contact seated on the rear side of the siren and fix a screw to
the wall (in the position shown in the drilling template) by letting it project
by 10 mm; in this way it will press the piston (brass colour). Then close
the contact as shown in the figure.
