LOSS OF IFD 3-IFD CONFIGURATIONS
If a PFD is lost, the middle IFD (MFD) will automatically begin
behaving as if it is PFD. In other words, the ADI cannot be
removed, no matter what buttons are pressed. This transfer of
behavior may take several seconds following the loss of a PFD.
Loss of the middle IFD (MFD) will not result in any behavioral
differences on the remaining IFDs, only a loss of function per the
above table.
Loss of the right IFD (MFD) will not result in any behavioral
differences on the remaining IFDs, only a loss of function per the
above table.
In a 3-IFD system, loss of an IFD will have no effect on DFC100
autopilot operations or your ability to command the autopilot into
any mode or target value.
LOSS OF DISPLAY
The first indication that an IFD has experienced a loss of the
display (LCD) is the appearance of a black display but the bezel
backlighting is still present. Assuming the BRT/DIM rocker key
hasn’t been activated to the dimmest setting and the display has
actually failed, the easiest indication that just the display has
failed is a continued backlighting of the BRT/DIM rocker key on
the bezel and possibly some other bezel keys.
Some loss of display scenarios will be automatically detected and
the system will visually behave as it would in a loss of IFD
scenario but the system is still fully functional despite having no
working display. This means you still have two functional
ADAHRS, two functional GPS, VHF, I/O cards, etc. The Databus
is still fully functional and all the system data is being shared
amongst IFDs.
Recommended Pilot Actions:
If the left IFD display has been lost, press the PFD page function
key on the right IFD;
No other change to operations is recommended.
