System Failures
FAST ERECT
Some types of attitude data problems are recoverable in flight.
These can be considered the equivalent of a tumbled gyro. In
most cases, the ADAHRS Source selection is set to Auto. This
means that if one of the IFD ADAHRS experiences this type of
attitude data problem, the system automatically switches the
display of attitude to the cross-side ADAHRS. In this case, the
pilot is alerted via a yellow indication along to the top of the ADI
indicating the PFD display is being driven by the cross-side
ADAHRS and the system will carry on unaffected. If both IFD
ADAHRS have experienced this same type of recoverable
problem, then:
•
All normal button labels on the PFD are removed.
•
Attitude data is removed from the display and replaced
with a Red-X and large dialog box.
•
A “Start Fast Erect” button label and message box
displays.
•
No DFC100 functionality for the duration of Fast Erect
When you press “Start Fast Erect”, the message box will change
to “Maintain straight and level flight” until the 10-second count-
down timer expires. As that point, all attitude data is restored.
Note:
It is imperative that you obtain straight and level flight
before pressing “Start Fast Erect”. Use the second IFD or
secondary instruments and/or outside visual references to obtain
straight and level conditions.
LOSS OF ENGINE DATA
For those aircraft types that display engine data, loss of engine
data can be indicated in several ways. A Caution message “No
Comm with Eng Snsr” or “Eng Snsr Fault” will be displayed on all
IFDs for the pilot to acknowledge. Also, the “Engine” tab of the
SYS page and engine data blocks provide a clear indication that
there is no usable data. Additionally, the primary power indication
in the upper half of the ADI will stop displaying data.
