Access Control
To grant access to the StorPoint CD resources in the UNIX (NFS)
environment, you add clients with specific host names or IP addresses to the
NFS export list. You can also specify a range of IP addresses.
1. Click
Discs & Drives
.
2. To make all of the discs available to some clients only:
• Locate the
Volumes
folder in the file tree.
To protect one or several resources, but grant access to the other resources:
• Locate the resource you want to protect in the file tree.
3. Click
Access Rights
.
4. Open the
UNIX Security
page.
5. You can select whether you want to use the access rights of the disc or the drive
by checking the appropriate radio button. Note that this is a global setting for
all network protocols.
6. Optionally fill in a description of the shared resource in the Description field.
This text will appear in the directory listing on the NFS clients. If left blank,
the list of clients that are allowed to mount the exported resource will appear
instead.
Note:
HFS files are not exported automatically. This has to be defined via the Web
interface.
7. Choose whether you want to add a host name or an IP address.

When specifying a host name, you can use these wildcards:
You can specify an IP address/subnet mask pair in order to export the
resource to an IP subnetwork.

which represents any number of characters, except dots (...).
A single * implies any host name.
? which represents one character, except dot (.).
