The Axe Jig

Observe how the water flows over
the edge to make sure the blade
is in contact with the width of the
stone. This is very important to
create an even bevel.
SWITCH OFF THE MACHINE!
The edge of a axe or
hatchet should be 25-30˚
degrees, this depends on
the hardness of the wood.
A hunting axe must have
a larger edge of 30-40˚
degrees so the bevel edge
is more durable.

Set the axe to an angle of 25˚degrees, making sure the angle
gauge foot is in contact with the sharpening stone.
Switch on the machine, press with your palm on the axe. The
axe will be pressed up against the stop in the jig. Follow the
shape of the edge. During grinding let the jig slide sideways
on the universal support bar so the stone wears evenly.
