5. USING THE CONTRA-ANGLE
The contra-angle is supplied
non-lubricated
and
non-sterile
. Before the
first use, the contra-angle must be
lubricated
and
sterilised
. (see section
on “hygiene and maintenance”).
Before using, ensure that the contra-angle is not damaged and that no parts
are missing.
Connection to the motor
ATTENTION : The contra-angle should only be connected to the motor when
the motor is switched off.
Connect the contra-angle on the motor coupling until a click is heard. To do
this, keep the motor and contra-angle in the same axis
For some motors, the side button must be activated to make the connection.
Pull slightly on the contra-angle to verify before each use that it is correctly
engaged with the motor coupling.
Functional test
Start the motor.
NOTE : If you notice heating, irregularity, vibration or unusual noise while
the contra-angle is operating, contact your approved technical department
immediately.
Disconnecting the motor
The contra-angle must be disconnected only when the motor is stopped.
Remove the contra-angle, keeping it within the axis of the motor.
For some motors, the side button must be activated in order to disconnect
the motor.
NOTE : If the contra-angle is not used for long periods, do not leave it
connected to the motor otherwise a leak of oil may occur in the motor.
Connecting / disconnecting the rotating instrument
For all tool-handling processes, protective gloves should be worn (risk of
cuts).
Verify the condition of the rotating instruments used and handle them with
due care and precaution.
Do not use a worn instrument (risk of necrosis and consequent rejection of
implant).
Whenever the instrument is inserted or removed, the motor must be
switched off.
Introducing and clamping the rotating instrument :
> Push-button : exert pressure, using the thumb, on the center of the
push-button.
> Latch type : allow the latch to pivot.
