Securing Car Seat in Your Vehicle
10.2.2 Secure Base with UAS Lower Connectors
1. Remove any toys or other objects attached to the carry handle before
installing car seat in vehicle.
2. Snap car seat into base and place car seat and
base in the rear-facing position onto the vehicle
seat in the vehicle seating location selected.
Check for the correct seat recline and adjust
recline as necessary. (See Section 11.4 Adjust
Seat Recline Angle
)
3. Remove the Car Seat from the base by squeezing
the base release handle located under the center
of the foot end of the Car Seat and lifting upward
on the Car Seat. (See Section 10.5 Removing
Car Seat from Base
)
4. Remove the UAS connectors from their storage
position on the underside of the base.
5. Place the Base on the vehicle seat in a rear-facing
position with the anti-rebound bar contacting the
vehicle seat back.
6. Slide the UAS belt into the Vehicle Belt Path
openings on the side of the base (1) and under
the edge of the anti-rebound bar (2). (Fig 36-1)
7. Locate the UAS anchors in the vehicle Seat
and snap the Car Seat UAS connectors onto
the steel rod (Fig 36-2). Listen for the click and
check that both connectors are firmly attached
to the anchor rods by pulling outward on the
connectors.
8. Proper installation of the Base requires that
the UAS webbing be very tight and stay tight.
To tighten the webbing, push down hard with
your knee or hand on the Base while pulling
upward on each webbing end. The webbing
will automatically lock in place. (Fig 36-3)
9. Check that the base is tightly installed and
stays tightly installed by grasping the base
near the belt path and trying to move side-
to-side. Base should not move more than
