the same area of skin, it is possible you may feel or see:
• Mild pain in the skin:
even though Homelight® is in most cases
tolerated very well, most people who use it feel some mild pain
during use, which they often describe as a tingling sensation in the
area of skin being treated. In most cases, this tingling sensation is felt
during application and even possibly for a few minutes afterwards.
Any other discomfort apart from this mild pain is not normal and
either means that you need to stop treatment with Homelight®
because you do not tolerate it, or that your selected light pulse
intensity level is too high.
• Redness:
your skin may go red straight after using Homelight® or
during the following 24 hours. The redness usually disappears within
24 hours. See your doctor if the redness lasts longer than 2 to 3 days.
• Skin hypersensitivity:
skin is more sensitive in the treatment area
and can dry out or peel.
• Burns or blisters:
very rarely, skin may be vulnerable to injuries or
burns following treatment with Homelight®. Full recovery can take
several weeks and, in exceptional cases, a scar may remain.
• Scarring:
even though these are very rare cases, there may be
permanent scarring. In most instances these scars take the form of a
surface lesion with whitish colouration (hypotrophic). However, scars
may be wide and red (hypertrophic) or wide and extended behind
the injured area (keloid). More extensive cosmetic treatments may be
required to improve their appearance.
• Change to pigmentation:
Homelight® targets the root of the hair,
specifically the pigmented cells in the bulb. However, there is a
risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increased pigmentation or
brown discolouration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) or the
surrounding skin. People with darker skin are more at risk of changes
to pigmentation. In most cases, any changes to pigmentation
and discolouration of the skin are temporary. Permanent
hyperpigmentation and permanent hypopigmentation are rare.
