not
be used to stir food, highly flam-
mable or caustic substances.

Before Starting Work
To ensure safe working with the high-speed mixers,
the following points must be observed before each
use:
•
Read through all safety instructions and warnings
in this instruction manual.
•
Wear protective clothing such as hard hat, face
protection or safety goggles, safety gloves and if
necessary an apron.
•
The voltage on the rating plate must be identical
with the mains voltage.
•
Before using the machine, always check the con-
nection cable and plug.

Test the personal protection switch
(BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V)
DANGER
Risk of injury due to electric shock.
Î
The PRCD personal protection switch must
be checked each time before the BSM 2868 –
110 V / 230 V high-speed mixer is started up
(see below). If the PRCD does not trip during
the test, or if it switches off repeatedly when
the BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V high-speed mix-
er is switched on, the BSM 2868 – 1110 V / 230 V
high-speed mixer together with the PRCD per-
sonal protection switch must be examined by a
qualified electrician.
•
12
If the mains plug is plugged in and the
BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V high-speed mixer is
switched off, press the −ON− button (RESET) (2).
The red indicator light (1) must light up.
•
12
Press the −OFF− button (TEST) (3). The
PRCD must switch off, i.e. the red indicator light
(1) goes out.
•
12
Press the −ON− (RESET) button (2)
again. It must now be possible to switch on the
BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V high-speed mixer.
•
If the PRCD does not trip during the test, or if it
switches off repeatedly when the BSM 2868 –
110 V / 230 V high-speed mixer is switched on,
the BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V high-speed mixer
together with the PRCD personal protection
switch must be examined by a qualified electri-
cian.
•
Operation of the BSM 2868 – 110 V / 230 V
high-speed mixer with a defective PRCD
personal protection switch is not permitted –
risk of fatal injuries.

Î
Observe the instructions for use issued by the
manufacturer of the material to be stirred.
Î
When processing plastics, paints, varnishes and
similar materials, do
not
