5.1.2 Speed settings
The speed can be output in various units, which are
selected in attribute 25
Velocity Format
.
The settings of various other attributes relate to
the selected unit. It is recommended that the
required unit is set first, and then the dependent
attributes.
The speed is detected with a resolution of 0.1 mm/s and
processed with an accuracy of 32 bits. The preset unit for
the speed according to CIP is the standard unit for the
position (Counts = 1 μm) per second, therefore 1 μm/s.
This unit is below the measurement resolution of the speed
and therefore has a minimum increment of 100. The
resolution in which the speed data is output can be set
using attribute 25
Velocity Format
.
Attribute 24:
Speed (
Velocity Value
)
This is the current value of speed, depending on the
attributes 25 and 26. The value is identical to the value that
may be transmitted in the
I/O Assembly Object
.
Attribute 25:
Speed unit (
Velocity Format
)
The unit of speed is found in this attribute and influences
attribute 26
Velocity Resolution
. Therefore attribute 25
should be set first, before attribute 26 is changed.
The internal measurement resolution for the
speed is at 100 μm/s. This means that the unit
of steps per second (cps) is below this
resolution and the smallest increment is
100 cps.
Possible units are listed in Tab. 5-2.

Attribute 26:
Speed resolution (
Velocity Resolution
)
The speed resolution specifies the smallest increment
in the selected speed format in which the speed value
is output. This parameter is identical to the
Velocity_Resolution
entry in the
Config Assembly
(see 5.3.8
If
Config_assemby_parameter_recognition
is activated,
this parameter is ignored.
