IO-Link interface: Additional functions (continued)
In IO-Link mode, the absolute measured frequency is

the frequency monitor is activated, Pin 2 or Pin 4 can – in
SIO mode – be assigned the process value

7.1.4 Startup delay
If the counter function or frequency measurement is
enabled, a startup delay can also be configured using the
StartupDelay
parameter in 0x00B6. The time delay can be
set between 0...255 seconds and begins when the supply
voltage is applied to the sensor. The count function or
frequency measurement begins after this time has elapsed.
During the startup delay, the counter output in SIO mode
is high impedance if the count function is active. If the
frequency monitor is enabled, the counter output in SIO
mode (Pin 4) is switched on. Pin 2 is unaffected by the
startup delay and has its configured function from the
beginning.
While the startup delay time is running, the process data

IO-Link mode are inactive and the process data field

is 0.
Operating hours counter
There are three operating hours counters available
(Register 0x0057):
– Since lifetime
– Since last maintenance
– Since power-up
The default setting is 0. Only completed hours are
counted. Counter values are lost in applications where
sensors are turned on and off only as needed. Use the
system command
Maintenance Reset
(value 0xA5) to reset
the operating hours counter
Operating Hours
Maintenance
.
Operating Hours Lifetime
cannot be reset.
Operating hours counter, see
Boot cycles counter
A boot cycles counter over the lifetime is available
(0x0058). If the sensor is turned on for at least 10 minutes,
a boot cycle is recorded. Counter values are lost in
applications where sensors are turned on and off only as
needed (< 10 min). The value in
Boot Cycles (Lifetime)
cannot be reset.
Boot cycles, see
Object in detection range
By using the
out of range
process data bit, you can record
whether the object to be detected is too close or too far
from the sensor. This can be used to prevent collisions
between the sensor and an object or to detect when the
object is too far from the sensor.
Additional IO-Link functions
The sensor also provides the following functions for
monitoring and diagnostics:
– Overvoltage/undervoltage detection
– Short-circuit detection
– Current sensor internal temperature
– Sensor internal temperature during lifelong operation
and current operation
