Ultrasonic operation
For optimal di
ff
usion of the ultrasound and protection of the oscillating tank, nothing should
be in contact with the bottom of the bath during sonication. Laboratory
fl
asks and other
sample vessels must be stored in the supplied beaker holder or in a similar accessory.
• It is possible to treat multiple sample vessels with di
ff
erent liquids at the same time.
• When sonicating small quantities of combustible liquids in sample vessels, the country-
speci
fi
c guidelines/regulations that are currently in e
ff
ect are to be observed.
The ultrasonic bath is turned o
ff
for inserting the beakers.
Load sample holders with inset beakers and hang them in the oscillating tank, taking
note of the following:
Pathology:
When using the SONOCOOL for sample
preparation for analysis, we recommend using
only the inner drilling holes marked green and
orange for the sample vessels, in order to achieve
a uniform sonication.
Laboratory:
The insert basket K 5 SC can be used for the use
of SONOCOOL in the laboratory for subsequent
analysis. Here the sample containers can be
placed on the basket base.
•
The inset beakers are immersed a minimum of 2 cm
in the contact liquid.
• Possible air bubbles are completely removed from
below the vessels.
• When using sample containers, e.g. sample cassettes
for decalci
fi
cation of bone tissue, make sure of
the following:
- All samples must be fully covered with liquid.
- If sample cassettes are stacked in the glass, this may signi
fi
cantly impair
the distribution of sound.
- There may not be any air bubbles in hollow areas (e.g. blind holes).
• After inserting the beakers and beaker holders, the
fi
ll level of the oscillating tank
must always be at or slightly above the
fi
lling level mark. A
fi
ll level that is too low
will damage the ultrasonic bath.
Set the desired sonication time and start the ultrasound, see chapters 3.5 and 3.5.
Following sonication, remove the sample holders with inset beakers from the tank and
set down on a level surface.
Before the next sonication, verify the service life of the contact liquid. Heed the
speci
fi
cations of the preparation manufacturer. If the liquid is heavily contaminated,
it should be replaced even earlier as it can reduce the e
ffi
cacy of the ultrasound.
Power
o
ff
the ultrasonic bath ( mains switch on the rear side).
The last-selected parameters ( runtime, target temperature, target power) will be saved
and accessed the next time the ultrasonic bath is started.
