3.7.8.1 General Settings
According to internet standards, the HTTPS server normally listens on TCP
port
443
. If you
change this, you will need to include the new port when you connect to the Bandura Cyber TIG;
for example, if you change the port to 4567, you would need to access the Bandura Cyber TIG
this way:
https://192.168.1.1:4567
If you select
Require
Client
Certificates
, then the HTTPS server will refuse all connections with
unauthorized web browsers. Do not set Require Client Certificates until you have completed the
steps found in the
section of this manual.
If you did set Require Client Certificates by accident, and can no longer connect to the Bandura
Cyber TIG, you must use Maintenance
Mode
to reset the configuration. Whenever you enable
Require Client Certificates, you will have to exit
and
restart
your
web browser
before you can
continue working with the Bandura Cyber TIG.
Settings become active when you click the Submit button. If you change the Port setting, you
will be disconnected from the Bandura Cyber TIG, and can only reconnect if you use the new
port number.
3.7.8.2 Certificates
Your Bandura Cyber TIG comes with strong
data
encryption
, securing the communications
between your Bandura Cyber TIG and web browser. This feature prevents wiretappers and
eavesdroppers from deciphering your Bandura Cyber TIG communications, and may be
particularly useful when you access the Bandura Cyber TIG from a public network. This security
is part of the default Bandura Cyber TIG configuration, and you don't need to do anything to
take advantage of it. You can be confident in this security when you see "https://
" in the address
bar while accessing the Bandura Cyber TIG.
The
https
web browser function uses a secure internet protocol along with an encryption
certificate installed on the Bandura Cyber TIG.
Transport
Layer
Security
(TLS
)
and
Secure
Socket
Layer (SSL
)
are internet standard protocols that encrypt communications within
applications such as web browsers or electronic mail. TLS and SSL get their encryption
parameters from an
SSL Certificate
which comes pre-installed on the Bandura Cyber TIG.
Since TLS and SSL are application-level protocols, they will only encrypt your web browser
communications. If you want to encrypt all of your communications to the Bandura Cyber TIG,
you can configure
Internet
Protocol
Security
(IPsec
)
.
SSL Certificates are a type of
Public
Key
Certificate
, or electronic document based on the
X.509
standard
. X.509 is a framework for establishing a public key infrastructure, which
specifies formats for
Public
Key
Certificates
, and specifies methods for authenticating these
certificates via trusted
Certificate
Authorities
. A certificate contains a public key used by other
