Set up process of an FLX display
Set up process:
1.
The
fi
rst stage in the process is creating in the project in the Director toolset on the basis of a sketch of the creative concept which
you want to realize. A project exist in one or more con
fi
gurations and each con
fi
guration exist in one or more designs of FLX-NNI
Controller units. The designs can be the same or different from each other. Consult the user guide of the Director toolset for
more detailed information on how to de
fi
ne a new project.
2.
Install the FLX-60 pixels according your creative concept and realize the cabling of the FLX-60 pixels. Note that Barco offers
several FLX carriers. See installation manual of the used carrier for detailed installation instructions of the FLX-60 pixels.
In case your concept does not make use of the standard FLX-60 connector strings (16 pixels, 300 mm pitch) you can create your
own FLX-60 connector strings with the pitch that meet your requirements. Take into account that the cable lengths between the
last pixel in the string and the power system is limited. See chapters "FLX-60 Pixel", page 18 and "De
3.
Install the FLX-HUB units and connect these with the FLX-60 pixel strings. Note that the FLX-HUB units can be installed in a
19” rack or on stage. See chapters "Mounting the 19” rack bracket on the FLX-HUB", page 57 and "Mounting the rental bracket
on the FLX-HUB", page 54. Up to 20 meter FLX-HUB output extension cables can be used to connect the pixel strings with the
input ports of the FLX-HUB units. See chapter "FLX-HUB", page 30.
4.
Install the FLX-NNI Controller units and connect the data output ports with the data input ports of the FLX-HUB units. Note that
the maximum allowed length of data cable is 100 meter.
When using standard UTP cat 6 network cables, make sure that the RJ45 plugs of the network cables are provided with IP66
protection shells. See chapter "Installing the RJ45 IP66 protection shells", page 58.
5.
Connect the data IN and TRU ports of the FLX-NNI Controller units with each other. The maximum allowed length is 10 meter.
6.
Provide each FLX-NNI Controller unit with power.
7.
Install the DX-700 Digitizer, apply a source and connect the data output port of the digitizer with the input port of the
fi
rst FLX-NNI
Controller unit in the system. See installation manual of the DX-700 Digitizer for detailed installation instructions.
8.
Install the FLX Power System DPR-2700 units and connect the power output sockets with the FLX-HUB units. Maximum 50
meter power cable is allowed. Take into account that one FLX Power System DPR-2700 unit can power maximum 4096 FLX-60
pixels. Use a power splitter cable if appropriate. See chapter "FLX power system DPR-2700", page 34.
Connect all FLX Power System DPR-2700 units with the power net. Make sure that the power net meets the requirements as
stated in the chapter "Electrical requirements", page 12.
9.
The FLX system is ready now. Switch on all FLX Power System DPR-2700 units, all FLX-NNI Controller units and the DX-700
Digitizer. See user guide of the Director toolset for further actions.
