Section 8: Features
This chapter contains information on several X-Agora features.
8.1
2D mode
Use the 2D mode to create projects that do not need to include 3D elements.
The 2D mode uses a simplified workflow, removes some of the more complex concepts
from the 3D mode, and is optimized for 2D performance. Overall, the 2D mode is still
very similar to the 3D mode, and most of the information that can be found in these
appendices, while written for the 3D mode, is also accurate for the 2D mode.
Select the
2D check box
in the
New Project dialog
to create a new 2D project. See
Fig-
ure 8.1, “Create new 2d project”
.

Workflow
The workflow in 2D mode is very similar to the workflow in a 3D project. Most of the
3D layouts are still present and serve the same purposes. The main differences are that
there is no projection study layout, and that the viewport displays a 2D scene instead
of a 3D environment, where all units are in pixels. The concept of screens and projectors
is also abstracted as displays, and a canvas is used to define the 2D space in which your
show is built.
