SWING MOTOR GEARBOX MAINTENANCE (1010D)
CHECKING FLUID LEVELS
A lube reservoir is connected to the gearbox with a hose. Check that the lube reservoir is at half full before operating.
(Gearboxes are also equipped with a see-through breather and/or steel/magnetic plugs to check oil level.)
FILLING THE GEARBOX WITH FLUID
To fill the gearbox with fluid, keep adding fluid to the lube reservoir until gearbox is full and lube reservoir remains at
half full. The filler cap has a built-in breather which allows air to escape as needed.
FLUID CAPACITIES
Fluid capacity of gearbox ................... 6.87 quarts (6.5 liters).
Fluid capacity of lube reservoir ........... 2 quarts (keep at half full once gearbox is filled with fluid).
RECOMMENDED FLUID CHANGE INTERVALS
Fluid should be changed after the first 50 hours of machine operation, and every 400 hours after that. Drain plug is
located under gearbox mounting flange.
MOUNTING BOLT TORQUE
Gearbox mounting bolts should be torqued to 88 Ft. Lbs. of lubed torque. Use anti-seize lubricant 514-00700.
OIL CHANGING PROCEDURE
1. Remove the lowest plug from the gearbox.
2. Allow used oil to completely drain from the gearbox.
3. Dispose of used oil in a manner that is environmentally safe.
3. Clean the magnetic plug (if present) and check if there is a lot of iron powder on the plug or in the oil.
4. Flush the gearbox with clean oil to wash out contaminates that might remain inside.
5. Replace drain plug and the magnetic plugs (if present).
6. Fill the gearbox with clean oil to the proper level.
