WELDING SAFETY
Any unauthorized welding, alterations,
additions or modifications made to BARKO
machinery will void warranty.
This machine was
designed to do a specific job and alterations could
result in death, severe injury or property damage.
If BARKO-Authorized welding must be done, refer
to service manual for welding procedure. If
procedure is not followed electrical and structural
damage may occur.
PRE-WELDING CHECKLIST:
Ÿ
Clean machine
Ÿ
Disconnect battery cables
Ÿ
Cover rubber hoses, battery, and other flam-
mable parts
Ÿ
Unplug the engine ECU, then disconnect all
cables connected to the alternator
Ÿ
Disconnect all electronics, screens,
monitors, etc. (MD3, MDL, radios, etc.)
Ÿ
Have a fire extinguisher readily available
Never ground an arc welder through turntable
or boom bearings as arcing may occur causing
bearing damage.
Always connect the welder ground cable to the
component to be welded, and as close as possible
to the weld site. The clamp must never be
connected to the engine or in such a way that
current can pass through a bearing.
SAFE WELDING SET-UP:
WELDING PRECAUTIONS:
DO NOT weld on any structural member unless
specifically authorized by BARKO Hydraulics.
DO NOT weld spacer blocks to truck/trailer
frame!
DO NOT weld on or straighten the ROPS / cab!
DO NOT weld on accumulators or any other
components that may be pressurized!
Always wear appropriate PPE when welding:

Welding helmet, face shield, or goggles
Ÿ
Respirators
Ÿ
Fire/Flame resistant clothing and aprons
Ÿ
Ear muffs, ear plugs
Ÿ
Boots, gloves
