1.3 Filling Hydraulic Oil Reservoir
The BARKO Harvester is equipped with an Oil Transfer Pump used to transfer hydraulic oil from
an oil container to the Hydraulic Reservoir of the machine.
The Oil Transfer Pump is located
behind the Gullwing Door, mounted on the Hydraulic Reservoir below the machine Control Valve.
(See
Fig-3)
Use this pump to fill or add oil to the Hydraulic Reservoir.

On the Pump, remove the cap on the Hose Hook-Up, attach the
supplied Filler Hose.
Place other end of Filler Hose in Hyd Oil Container.
Release boost pressure from the tank by running the vacuum
pump or by removing tank vent plug located in the top of the
tank. Note the decal located near the plug. Be sure to clean
around the plug to ensure contaminants do not enter into
hydraulic tank.
Press and hold the Switch to activate the Pump.
Watch the Hyd Oil Sight Level Gauge. Fill the Hyd Reservoir
until oil level reaches FULL.
Do not overfill the Hydraulic Reservoir
1.2 Checking Hydraulic Oil Level
The hydraulic oil level can be checked via...
Ÿ
the MD4 Display Screen in the Cab
(Refer to the IQAN section in the CAB Chapter 40 of this manual to read Hyd Oil Level on the
display)
Ÿ
the Hyd Oil Sight Level on the Hydraulic Tank
(See
Fig-2
for the Hyd Oil Level Sight Gauge)
Check the Hydraulic Oil Sight
Level daily.
Don’t always rely on
the IQAN display in the cab.

Check with your supplier before mixing hydraulic oils of different type,
brand, or viscosity.
Many oils are not compatible and damage to your hydraulic
system could result. When changing oil viscosity, flush and clean the hydraulic
system before adding new oil.
See Chapter 13- LUBRICATION & FLUID SPECS for BARKO recommended
Hydraulic Oil ISO Viscosity Grades.
6.
Once filling is complete, ensure tank vent plug it tightened to allow boost pressure to build and
prevent contaminants from entering hydraulic tank.
